Towns, 70, of Tulsa, Okla., formerly of Denison will beh eld at 11 a.m. Friday in Fairview Cemetery. The Rev. Thomas Smith will officiate. Masonic graveside services will be conducted jointly by Lone Star Lodge No. 403 and Billie Moss Lodge No. 1152 in Denison. Bratcher Funeral Home has charge of arrangments. Mr. Towns was born in Denison, and attended Denison public schools and North Texas State University. He received his bachelor of science degree from Southeastern Oklahoma State, master's degree from Oklahoma State University and did advanced studies at OSU. He was a World War II veteran and participated in the Normandy Invasion on D-Day. He was awarded the Medal of Honor, Purple heart, Bronze Star and Silver Star. He was a former Director of Industrial Technology and Vocational Education for Tulsa public schools, and has also taught in Texas and Oklahoma. he retired in 1988. He was a member of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, S.J., USA, Scottish Rite Society of Oklahoma, Skiatook Lodge No. 416, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, American Legion in Tulsa, Disabled American Veterans. He was also a member of several education associations, including the Oklahoma Retired Educators Association, National Education Association, ITEA and Tulsa Retired Educators Association. Surviving are his w2ife, Neva Jean Towns of Tulsa; and sister Lorraine Brown of Denison. She was born Febr. 25, 1926 in Denison. She married Homer B. Towns, a former Tulsa Public School No. 1 administrator and decorated Normandy invasion World War II veteran, and he preceded her in death. She was a long-time employee of Southwestern Bell and At&T in Denison and Tulsa. She attended Lamar and Shiloh schools in Denison, and was an honor graduate of Denison High School.s Survivors incllude her brothers, Calvin C.
