A. G. Barnes
1853 - 1911

The Sunday Gazetteer
Sunday,December 3, 1911
pg. 4

Intelligence was received in the city Tuesday night that Judge A.G. Barnes had died in the St. Louis hospital where he
went last Friday to have an operation performed.  Judge Barnes had been a resident of
Denison for the past 18 years.
It is a mistake to suppose that he died of either paralysis or pneumonia.

The judge died of vertigo.  The remains will be shipped to Denison immediately.
Judge Barnes had for a number of years been located in the bank building on North Rusk avenue.  His time was mostly taken up by making out legal papers and doing business for the bank, examining papers, etc.
Judge Barnes was for a number of years a member of the Episcopal church and was identified with every movement for the betterment of the church.  His death is a great blow to his many friends in this city.  He came here from Terrell, Texas, where he had held a prominent position in his profession and was elevated to the judgeship.  He was a pure and good citizen, and his loss to the community is irreparable.
At the time of his death Judge Barnes was 55 years of age.  He leaves a wife and grown son to mourn his loss. His son was with him when he died.
The body of A.G. Barnes reached Denison from St. Louis Thursday on the Flyer.
Judge Barnes will be buried at 2 o'clock from the Episcopal Church.  Services will be conducted by Rev. Curren.
