M. Kelley 1885 - 1929 Denison Herald November 5, 1929 Marion L. Kelley, 44 years old, proprietor of the Kelley Studio and Pet Store, 331 West Main Street, and a photographer in Denison for the last sixteen years, died at the Denison City Hospital Tuesday morning at 1:45 o'clock, following a brief illness. An attack of ptomaine poisoning which developed into kidney trouble is blamed for his death. Mr. Kelley, who was widely known throughout North Texas and Southern Oklahoma because of his activities as a photographer, was born in Diamond, Mo., May 20, 1885, and came to Denison sixteen years ago. Before moving his studio into the Security Building, Mr. Kelley had been located in the 400 block West Main Street for several years. For many years Mr. Kelley had been an active member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, having served a term as its president and held the position of secretary at the time of his death. His home, known as Kelley Heights, is located on East Main Street and has just reach[ed] the state of completion after many months of incessant toiling on the part of Mr. Kelley. He was a bird and pet fancier, having a number of rare specimen[s] at his home and studio. Surviving are his widow; mother, Mrs. Alice Morain, Joplin, Mo.; four sisters; two brothers; a step-son, Frank Summerour of Denison, and a step-daughter, Mrs. Harvey Black, Wichita Falls. Funeral services will be held at Short-Murray's funeral chapel Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, with Rev. F. A. Crutchfield, pastor of Waples Memorial Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery. Pallbearers will be selected from members of the Eagles Lodge, which organization will have charge of services at the cemetery.
