Friday, July 7, 1944 pg.5 Funeral services for George Grover Fairley were conducted Wednesday afternoon from the Waples Memorial Methodist church, the pastor Rev. Jackson C. Oglesby, officiating. Interment was at Fairview. Mr. Fairley died shortly after becoming ill at his office a chief clerk to the superintendent of the Katy short after the lunch hour. He was removed to his home, 30 Parnell street, where death overtook him soon after arriving. Born in Parsons, Kansas, December 20, 1885, Mr. Fairley came to Denison with his parents while a small child and attended public schools here and St. Xavier's Academy. He entered Katy service about 40 years ago as an employe of the car department and had served as chief clerk to Supt. J.F. Hayden for 20 years. Mr. Fairley was married December 23, 1911 to Miss Dora Dean Haley. He was a member of Waples Memorial Methodist Church, and served on the board of stewards. He also was a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Brotherhood of Railway Clerks, the Woodmen Circle, and the City Hospital Board. Survivors include his widow; son, George Gladwin Fairley of Borger; his stepmother, Mrs. Elizabeth Fairley, Denison; and 2 sisters, Mrs. Dessie Brown of Glendale, California; and Mrs. Hattie Jones of Taft, California.
