Friday, May 6, 1960 BOY OF 11 DIES AFTER COLLISION WITH KRAFT TRUCK Death followed almost instantly when Franz Grayson Berry, the 11-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Berry, was in collision with a truck of the Kraft Foods company, a former Denison plant now located at Dallas. The accident happened at the busiest intersection in Denison - Main St. at Hwy. 75 in the heart of down-town Denison. The youth was riding his new bicycle, and the accident happened at a location which was a block from the State National Bank, where his father is vice-president, and also within a half block of the office of his grandfather, Franz Kohfeldt, head of Kohfeldt & Son Realtors. Efforts to warn the young fellow in time to prevent the accident were declared too late. The incident was a complete shock to the entire city and no doubt will give added support to the efforts here to cut down auto fatalities. The boy was hurried to a local hospital, but death had already taken its toll. Driver of the truck was Aubrey J. Carroll, Dallas, who brought the truck to an instant stop. This is the first down-town fatal accident in Denison this year. The boy was born November 7, 1949, in Denison. He was a fourth grade student at Sam Houston elementary school and was a member of Waples Memorial Methodist church and Cub Scout pack 605. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Johnson-Moore chapel, conducted by Rev. W.E. Peterson, pastor of the Waples church. Burial was in Fairview cemetery, Johnson-Moore directing. Survivors are his parents; 2 sisters, Kathleen and Kristine Berry, both of Denison; and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Franz Kohfeldt of Denison; and Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Berry of Ashley, Illinois.
