On last Monday Mr. and Mrs. Slater received a telegram announcing the
death of their brother-in-law, Sam Shorter, at Denison. The left on the
8:15 train that night to
attend the burial which took place in Maple Grove Cemetery at Denison
on Wednesday at 3 p.m. Marshall, his oldest son, is recovering from a
severe spell of pheumonia. Mr. Shorter died of pneumonia, only living
four days after he was taken ill. He was born and raised in the
Boisd'Arc community, four miles west of McKinney, where he has a host
of friends to mourn his death. He leaves a wife and two children. He
was a member
of the Christian church and was buried under the honors of W.O.W. Mrs. Slater is still with her sister.
