James Elsie Daniel, 78, a veteran of 52 years service with the Katy, died in a local hospital Friday, October 17, 11:20 p.m. Funeral services were held at the First Presbyterian church Sunday afternoon, October 19, at 3 o'clock with the Rev. James Logan and the Rev. Gerald Blackburn officiating. Interment was in Fairview with Bratcher in charge. Mr. Daniel was born in Red Oak, Texas, Dec. 21, 1879, the son of Mr. and Mrs. James D. Daniel. He was married Dec. 24, 1911 to Hazel Grove of Denison. He was retired in 1956 as north end conductor on the Texas Special. The Daniel home is at 1212 W. Morton. He is survived by his widow; four sons, Roy Daniel, Denison, James Daniel, Oklahoma City, Charles Daniel of Garland and Roger Daniel of Lake Jackson and seven grandchildren.
