Funeral services for George E. Tucker, 79, retired Katy engineer,
of 730 W. Owing, who died in the Katy hospital after a long illness,
were held Saturday afternoon at Bratcher-Moore chapel with Dr.
H.C. Henderson officiating. Interment was in Fairview cemetery with
Masonic services by Lone Star Lodge No. 403.
Mr. Tucker was born in El Dorado, North Carolina, March 23, 1870.
He was educated in El Dorado, and was married in Gladewater in 1899 to
Mrs. Louise Sanders. Before his retirement in June 1947, he
had worked for the Katy for 49 years. He was a member of Waples
Memorial Methodist church, Lone Star Masonic Lodge, Woodmen and
Brotherhood of the LF&E.
Survivors include a son, J.M. Tucker, Denison; a step-daughter, Miss
Connie Tucker of Denison; and a brother, N.D. Tucker, El Dorado.
Pallbearers were George Tinkle, Willis McFadden, Sidney Moad, Joe Cox, E.R. Bryan and Tom Penn.
