Sunday, September 7, 1884 pg. 4 DEATH BY ACCIDENT About 9 o'clock Thursday, James Tarlton, a switchman at the Missouri Pacific car yard in this city, was run over and crushed to death. It seems that an engine was pushing some flat cars, loaded with bridge timbers, up to the round house. Tarlton was on one of the flats, and by some misfortune fell and lost his life. His right arm was almost cut off at the elbow and his body crushed. He was about 26 years old and leaves a young wife behind. He is spoken of as am exemplary young man, and had a large circle of friends.
