Sunday, October 18, 1896 pg. 4 A PIONEER GONE S.G. Knaur Joins the Silent Majority S.G. Knaur, one of our honored and most respected citizens, died Sunday the 11th at his home, No. 1325 West sears street. For the past 2 years Mr. Knaur was obliged to withdraw from active business pursuits, not being able to leave his home. This was a great trial to the old gentleman who loved to mingle among his fellow citizens. He always took an interest in anything that would advance Denison and contributed a great deal to her material prosperity. He was a kind hearted man, and his employees will cherish his memory. He never refused kindness to those who deserved it. In all business dealings he was the soul of honor. Mr. Knaur was a pioneer in Denison, casting his lot here in 1879. He was a builder and contractor. The funeral services took place Tuesday morning from the Woodland M.E. Church of which he was a member. The interment was at the Fairview Cemetery.
