Funeral services for Joseph B. Cowell, 64, retired postal employee and
former Denisonian, who died Friday morning at his home, Congo Park,
California, will be held Thursday afternoon at 3 o'clock from St.
Luke's Episcopal church, Rev. Raymond Ottensmeyer officiating.
Interment will be at Fairview cemetery, Short-Murray directing.

Following an extended illness, Miss Nellie Cowell, identified with the
State National bank as a stenographer for 39 years, died in a Sherman
hospital Wednesday morning at 9:30 where she had been for six weeks,
entering the institution immediately following her retiring from her
position at the bank.
Miss Cowell was one of the best known business women of the city and
had been connected with the bank over a period of time which covered
the staff of officers from the time of G. L Blackford to the present.
Funeral services were conducted Thursday at 4 p.m. from the Episcopal
church with the rector, Rev. Raymond Ottensmeyer, officiating.
Interment was at Fairview with Short-Murray directing.
Miss Cowell was born at Freemont, Ohio, her parents being Mr. and Mrs.
H. S. Cowell. Her schooling was received at Freemont and Denison. She
was a member of the Episcopal church, and the eastern star.
Surviving are two brothers, C. S. Cowell and F. J. Cowell, Denison and
one sister, Mrs. J. M. Henderson, Denison. Surviving also are two
nephews, Chas. Cowell and Jerry Henderson, Denison and a niece, Miss
Betty Cowell, of this city.
Pallbearers were W. I. Peterson, E. L. Hopkins, Ralph A. Porter, H. P.
Watson, H. G. Wilson, J. A. Foster. Honorary pallbearers will be the
directors of the State National Bank.
