Wednesday, October 2, 1935 pg 1 T. B. Hairsine Succumbs Late Tuesday Here Thomas B. Hairsine, 68, trench farmer residing one mile south of Denison on route 3, died Tuesday night at 8:45 at his home after a week's illness. He was attacked with a severe case of asthma last Wednesday. Mr. Hairsine was born in Hull, England, March 6, 1867, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Hairsine, receiving his education there. Coming to the United States with his family at the age of 16, he settled in Missouri Valley, Iowa, later moving to Topeka, Kansas, where he worked for the Santa Fe railroad as boilermaker. Here he married Miss Lily Foster, April 10, 1898. He accepted a position with the railroad in Denison in 1905 in which capacity he remained until 1922, when he retired to become a trence farmer. He lived in his present home for the past 30 years. He is a member of the Episcopal Church. Surviving are his widow; 4 brothers, Robert Hairsine of Cresbaid, South Dakota; John of Baltimore, Maryland; Edwin of Wilmington, Delaware; and W. M. of Nashville, Tennessee; 2 sisters, Mrs. Mary Batty, Wilmington, Delaware, and Mrs. Laura Smallwood of Beaver, New York; 3 grandchildren; a large number of distant relatives. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon from the Episcopal church, Rev. Harry Lee Virden officiating. Interment was made at Fairview Cemetery, Short-Murray funeral directors, directing.
