Walter Arthur Underwood, 53, died in the Katy hospital Friday, April 26, at 10:45 p.m., after several months of illness.  He had been in the hospital 3 days.
Funeral services were held at Bratcher Funeral Home Sunday, April 28, at 3:30 p.m.  Rev. A.P. Skaggs officiated and interment was in Fairview cemetery.
Mr. Underwood was born in Crafton, Texas, October 6, 1903, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Alton Underwood.
He was married in 1925 in Denison to Jewel B. Van Sickle.  They lived in McKinney before coming to Denison 35 years ago.  He was a car inspector for the Katy with 28 years of service.
He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, Lone Star Lodge No. 403, Masons Denison Chapter 1, Royal Arch, Denison Council 83, Royal and Select Masters, Denison Commandery 24, K.T. The Masons conducted services at the grave.
Survivors are one son, W.A. Underwood, Lake Charles, Louisiana; and 2 grandchildren.
