DEATH ROLL
Funeral services for Jacob Wiest, who died early Saturday morning, were conducted Sunday from the Waples Memorial church, with Rev. J.C. Oglesby officiating, assisted by Rev. H.T. Crowe.  Interment was at Fairview.
Born Aug. 14, 1863, in Odessa, Russia, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Wiest.  His schooling was in the town of his birth, and he was married Dec. 1, 1885, in Odessa.  The couple came to America two years after their marriage and he worked in the coal business at Coalgate.  They came to Denison in 1891, moving later to Clay county, returning again to Denison in 1895 and had made his home here since that time.  He engaged in the grocery business for several years at Nelson and Tone.  He was a member of the Waples church and a deacon and local minister, and a member of the Sons of Herman.
Surviving are one son, George J. of Wichita Falls, and five daughters, Mrs. Minnie Coffman, Mrs. Christine Blankenship and Mrs. Emma Blankenship, and Miss Eunice Wiest, all of Denison; and Mrs. Rachel Mosley of Camden, Ark.
A brother, Pete, lives at Henrietta and a sister, Mrs. Kate Christman, lives in Denison.  Fifteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild also survive.
