Wednesday, August 1, 1934 WILLIAM BARKLEY DIES FOLLOWING 4 MONTHS ILLNESS William Bert Barkley, local barber, 56 years of age, died Wednesday morning at 9 o'clock at the family residence, 106 E. Texas St. He was born August 31, 1877 (sic) in Mississippi, son of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Barkley. He was married on December 27, 1898 at Royce City to Beulah Emerson. He was affiliated with the Woodmen of the World and the Eagles Lodge. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Beulah Barkley; 2 brothers, Jack of San Benito, California and Lon of Barnsdale, Oklahoma; 5 sisters, Mrs. Pearl Chambers of Houston, Mrs. Fannie Stewart of Royce City, Mrs. Frank Williams of McKinney, Mrs. Carrie Lambert of Lavon, Mrs. Lillie Long of Altus, Oklahoma; 5 sons, Jack, Buster, H. T., O.B., and Lee Roy, all of Denison, one daughter, Mrs. Rosalee Moore of Royce City; and 5 grandchildren. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at the family home, 109 E. Texas St., with Rev. L. R. Lamb officiating. Interment took place at Fairview Cemetery, Short-Murray, funeral directors, in charge.
