Bodkin, Sr., 67, life-long resident of Denison, dropped dead from a heart attack Sunday at 11:15 a.m. at the grocery store he owned at 422 North Houston. Bodkin was making a grocery sale to Mrs. Frank S. Martin, 500 North Houston, and turned to his cash register when he collapsed. He was pronounced dead at Madonna Hospital. He returned to Colorado to rejoin a Denison group and arrived home late yesterday after getting the second death message. The Denison Press Friday, March 4, 1932 pg 4 BOY DROWNED IN OLD WELL HERE SUNDAY Charles Bodkin, 9-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Bodkin was drowned in an old water well here Sunday. The well is located on the property of the Kelley Home recently destroyed by fire. The Bodkin lad with two of his playmates were playing around the old well, when in some manner the youth fell in. At the sight of their young companion floundering in the well, the other playmates fled in horror. When the information was brought to the father of the drowned lad, he hurried to the well and removed his son. All possible effort to revive the lad was made, but they were in vain. Firemen from the city force used pul-motors but that was of no avail. Te old well had been filled with dirt, it is reported, but had sunken back to some fourteen feet. It was reported to have been covered over Sunday morning, and how the covering was removed to allow the lad to be exposed to the death trap is not known. Funeral services were held at St. Patrick's Tuesday morning, Rev. B. J. Deeney officiating. Interment was in Calvary, Hort-Muray funeral directors in charge. James P. Bodkin 1931 - 2010 Beth A.
