December 2, 1949 pg. 4 Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at Bratcher-Moore chapel for John Wilk Taylor, who died Monday at the Katy hospital after a 2-weeks illness. Services were conducted by Rev. W.O. Bucy o f Trinity church, of First Christian. Interment was in Fairview cemetery. Mr. Taylor was born in Brandsville, Missouri, May 11, 1882. He received his education in Greenville and at Calhoun college at Kingston, Texas. He had been employed by the Katy since 1907, and had retired as conductor in 1944. He served as city commissioner 2 terms, having been elected in 1945. He was a member of the ORC, the Masons, and the Eastern Star. Survivors are his widow; a son, Fred Scoggin; and a daughter, Mrs. Allen Aday of Denison; 3 sisters, Mrs. Mamie Starns of Dallas; Mrs. Tom Reede Poole of Greenville; and Mrs. Frank Ratcliff of Altus, Oklahoma.
