Wednesday, January 23, 1935 pg 1 JOHN COPPERS, RAILROAD MAN FOR 47 YEARS, DIES WEDNESDAY IN HOSPITAL John A. Coppers, 67, a resident of Denison for 57 years, died Wednesday morning at 8 a.m. at the Katy hospital, where he had been a patient since October 29, 1934. Mr. Coppers was born in Knox County, Missouri, October 22, 1868, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. P. Coppers. He received his schooling there and on December 25, 1898, was wed to Miss Maude Pauhne Coppers. He is a member of the First Christian Church, Brotherhood Locomotive Engineers Lodge 177, and has been connected with the Katy Railroad since his coming to Denison. He is survived by his widow; one son, Roy Coppers of Chicago; one daughter, Mrs. Norma York of East Moline, Illinois; 3 brothers, Will Coppers of Bellevue, Kansas; Dick Coppers of Trinidad, Colorado; Jess Coppers of Denver, Colorado; one sister, Mrs. Maude Abraham of Denver, Colorado; and 2 grandchildren. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at Short-Murray chapel, with Rev. Gerald Miller officiating. Interment was at Fairview Cemetery, Short-Murray funeral directors were in charge.
