Saturday, August 27, 1938 pg. 1 WILLIAM B. CHENEY SUCCUMBS HERE FRIDAY William B. Cheney, 71, died at a local hospital Friday after a two month's illness. Rev. Ben. F. Hearn, will conduct the services at the First Christian church at 4:30 p.m. Sunday. Short-Murray will direct and interment will be at Fairview cemetery. Mr. Cheney was born in Bath, Michigan, Dec. 1, 1866. As a small boy he moved to Lancing, Michigan, where he received his education. He started his railway career in Omaha, Nebraska, later moved to El Paso and then to Temple, Texas. He worked several years for the Santa Fe there before coming to Denison in 1910, where he has since been employed by the Katy. He was a brakeman and a member of the B. of R.T. and the Christian church. Surviving are his widow of this city; one brother, Henry of Reed City, Michigan; and one sister, Mrs. Mina Wheaton, also of Reed City.
