— Funeral services for Connie Ard, 58, of Denison will be held at 10
a.m. Thursday, December 14, 2006 at St. Patrick Catholic Church with
the Rev. John Dick officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview
Cemetery. Pallbearers will be
Alan Hust, Charles Detweiller, Jerry Leher, Gary Shires, Judd Bell and Gene Walker. Honorary pallbearers will be Elmer Robinson, Phillip Melton and Mark Grayham. A rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, December 13, 2006 also at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Connie was born on March 5, 1948 in Denison to Andy and Betty Martin Davis. She was an honor graduate from DHS on May 30, 1966. She received her Associate of Science Degree from Grayson County College on May 29, 1969 and also her Bachelor of Arts in Education on May 13, 1977 and her Masters of Education on December 16, 1982, both from Southeastern Oklahoma State University. She was initiated as member of Kappa Delta Pi (an Honor Society in Education, April 7, 1977, Beta Delta (Chapter), Southeastern Oklahoma State University, (Institution). Connie started her career as a sales clerk for Ladies' Ready to Wear Sears and Roebuck and then started her five years of dedicated service as a Southwestern Bell Telephone Operator in Denison, Texas, San Francisco, Calif. and San Diego, Calif. and then back to Denison, Texas. She then took on various other jobs before becoming a Substitute Teacher in 1977, Art Teacher in 1979 all the way through her leave of absence in May of 1986 for the Denison Independent School District. She married Timothy David Ard II on August 9, 1976 in Galveston, Texas. He preceded her in death on March 5, 1994. In 1986 Connie organized the Denison Chapter of Recovery Inc. and served as Group Leader and was an active member for the last 20 years. She was also a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and a member of Christ Renews His Parish. Connie is survived by her parents, Andy and Betty Davis of Denison; aunts and uncles, Peggy Newport of Dallas, Wilma Snow of Brementon, Wash, Buddy and Katherine Hibbard of San Antonio, Texas, Don and Mary Martin of Sherman, Joe and Pat Martin of Greenville, N.C., John and Joanne Martin of Downie, Calif. and Gene and Joann Davis of Bigsby, Okla. and a host of cousins. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Vincent at St. Patrick Catholic Church at 314 N. Rusk, Denison, Texas 75020 or Recovery Inc. at 802 N. Hearborn St., Chicago, Ill. 60610.
