Friday, February 18, 1944 pg. 6 Funeral services were conducted here Thursday for Joseph Sylvester Miller, who died at the Katy hospital Monday morning. He resided at 1306 W. Bond street and had retired as a switchman for the Katy. His death came sudden following a heart condition. Born February 5, 1874 at Alto Pass, Illinois, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Miller. He was married in August 1904 at Carbondale, Illinois to Miss Nell Trobough. He was a member of the Central Church of Christ. He moved to Denison August 6, 1906 and entered the service of the Katy as switchman, retiring May 26, 1938. He was a Spanish-American war veteran and was a member of the United Spanish War Veterans and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Doris Lyle Salesbury, Maryland, and a grandson, Don Boyd Miller, Denison. Norris W. 'Buddie' Miller 1910 - 1942 The Denison Press

Bond, who died Monday at Beaumont, were held Wednesday afternoon at 4 o'clock from Short-Murray chapel, Rev. Leland Alton officiating. Interment was in Fairview Cemetery, Short-Murray directing. Pallbearers were Robert Noe, Jr., Hubert Smith, Paul Jennings, Paul Helm of Beaumont, L.T.
