Wednesday, September 22, 1937 pg. 1 BUSINESS WOMAN FOR 39 YEAR PASSES TUESDAY Mrs. J.F. Funston, 76, resident of Denison for 49 years, died at her home, 3817 West Crawford street, early Tuesday afternoon, following illness of one month. Born in Sullivan, Illinois, May 23, 1861, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Standefer, she was reared and educated there. She came to Denison from Pierce City, Missouri, where she had lived during her marriage to Julian P. Kelley to whom she was married six years. Coming to Denison, she was married to J. Frank Funston, Katy employee, October 19, 1909. Her husband retired from active service in June 1937. A daughter, Mrs. Beulah McCaughey, teaches in the Denison high school. Mrs. Funston was a Denison business woman for 39 years until she retired nine years ago. She came here at the age of 27. She was a member of the Waples Memorial church. Funeral services will be held from the home at 4 p.m. Thursday, Rev. D.E. Hawk officiating. Interment will be at Fairview with Short-Murray in charge. Surviving are her husband; daughter, both of Denison; one son, Frank A. Kelley, of Denison; two granddaughters, Mrs. Beulah Saville of New York City and Mrs. Daphne Oldham of Boston; four nieces, Mrs. C.M. Hotchkiss, Mrs. E.M. Farmer, Mrs. R.M. Doak all of Denison and Mrs. John Higson of Chicago; two nephews, Claude and Zeth Sanderfer of Kansas City. Pallbearers will be Tom Anderson, R.S.
