Graveside service for Mody A. Voigt, 101, of 321 E. Chestnut, who died Tuesday at a local hospital, will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Fairview Cemetery, with the Rev. Doug Miller officiating. Johnson-Moore Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Voigt was born Oct. 23, 1882, in San Saba, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Dolphin Austin. She married Frank M. Voigt June 14, 1903, in Sherman, and he died Feb. 18, 1920. Mrs. Voigt had been employed by Short and Murray Funeral Home for 28 years, and Bratcher-Moore Funeral Home for several years. Mrs. Voigt had also been a sales clerk for Madden's and Newsom's. She was a member of Waples Methodist Church, and was the first secretary of the Business and Professional Women's Club. Mrs. Voigt had been a member of the Woodmen of the World Circle since 1929, and was active in SNAP. Surviving are nieces. The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8 tonight, and at other times, 812 W. Shepherd. Earl Austin 1889 - 1955 Isabell Austin 1889 - 1966 The Denison Press
Friday, January 28, 1955 pg. 3 Funeral services for W. Earl Austin, 65, Katy railroad flagman, were held at Bratcher-Moore chapel Friday morning with Rev. Duke Barron officiating. Interment was in Fairview cemetery. Austin died in the Katy Hospital Wednesday afternoon from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was found in a workshop behind his home at 812 W. Shepherd with a bullet hole in his head and a pistol lying on his chest. He was rushed to the Katy hospital where he died 2 hours later. Austin had been a brakeman for several years before he began serving as flagman at the Katy's Main street crossing stand about 8 years ago. He had been in ill health for some time and had been hospitalized several times. He had just been released from the hospital on the day he was found shot. He was born in San Angelo, May 3, 1889, the son of Mr. and Mrs. W.B. Austin. He attended Sherman schools and was married in Denison September 27, 1910 to Miss Isabell Benedict. He was a member of Waples Methodist church, the B of RT and the BM of WE. Survivors are his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Claud Sims of Denison; 2 brothers, D.L. Austin of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Earnest Austin of Covington, Kentucky; 3 sisters, Mrs. Mody Voight of Denison; Mrs. Ida Brewster and Mrs. Minnie Fenning of Alliance, Nebraska.
