Amos P. Wood 1864 - 1945 The Denison Press
Christmas Edition 1945 pg. 1 & 13 DEATH TAKES A.P. WOOD, EARLY SETTLER, DENISON When death visited Denison and removed A.P. Wood, it claimed one of its most loved men, who has held public office, served for years as an abstractor and real estate man and who was one of the few men here remaining who attended the old Harshaw business academy which was famous in the years gone by for its thorough work. The college specialized in penmanship and every student it turned out was a fine penman and Mr. Wood's letters addressed in beautiful penmanship were known to many here. A gentleman of the old school, a consecrated Christian, and fine business man and an ideal family man, he was one who stood out in circles here. Mr. Wood died at an early hour Wednesday at the Madonna hospital and was buried in Fairview Thursday from the First Presbyterian church with his pastor, Rev. James Spivey, officiating. Mr. Wood came to Denison in 1883 and later married to Miss Blanche Deem, who preceded him in death July 24, 1919. He is survived by a son, Ralph; and a daughter, Mrs. Claude Crawford, both of this city.
