Sunday, September 22, 1907 pg. 2 NEWT ORMSBY DEAD Newt Ormsby, one of the best known citizens of this section died at his home west of the city, where he was conducting a large farm. Mr. Ormsby has been a resident of this section for many years, and was highly esteemed. He had for a long period been an invalid, but being a man of very courageous temperament, he held out to the last. It was his superb courage that kept him alive so long. Mr. Ormsby was one of the very best men who have ever lived in this community. He was devoted to his profession of farming and was very successful. He was a practical all-round man. He was one of the most loyal and truest friends that ever lived. If he liked you he would do anything to serve you. During the civil war he served in the Union army and made an enviable record as a soldier. He was a member of the G.A.R. Post and active in its councils At the time of death Mr. Ormsby was 59 years of age. He was buried near the old homestead and many were present to pay their last respects. He leaves a wife and 2 sons. The Gazetteer regrets to chronicle his death. He was an old friend of the paper and has spent many pleasant hours as a visitor.
