Monday, July 27, 1942 pg 1 Funeral services for Brady L. Mayfield, 66-year-old retired Katy engineer, 526 w. Acheson, who died Saturday morning at 5 o'clock at the M-K-T Employees hospital following an illness of five years, were held Sunday afternoon at 4 o'clock from Short-Murray chapel, Rev. L. F. Lamb officiating. Interment was at Fairview cemetery, Short-Murray directing. The Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineer conducted a service at the grave. Pallbearers were E. L. Hays, C. M. Perry, E. O. Sullivan, C. H. Reed, M. B. Hudgins and O. E. Kain. Mr. Mayfield was born in Horse Cave, Ky., Feb. 28, 1874, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bevery Mayfield and was reared and educated at that point. He left Horse Cave at the age of 21 and coming to Denison, accepted immediate employment in the locomotive department of the Katy railroad. He was soon promoted to fireman and two years later was advanced to engineer which he served until his retirement caused by ill health in 1937. He had been confined to the hospital ten days. On July 25, 1914, he was married at McKinney to Mrs. Lula May Snyder. He was a member of the Baptist church, Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and the Security Benefit association. Surviving are his widow; a son Guy Snyder of Los Angeles; two daughters, Mrs. E. E. Bradley of Fort Worth and Mrs. Edgar Uhl of San Antonio; two brothers, Webster Mayfield, Nashville, Tenn.; and two sisters Cornelia Mayfield of Nashville and Mrs. Ida Craig of Los Angeles.
