Bonham, Texas Friday, January 7, 1910 COL. R. C. FOSTER IS DEAD. Former Texas Legislator and Prominent in Political and Industrial Circles. Denison, Tex., Jan. 6 - Col. Robert Coleman Foster, a citizen of Denison since 1875, prominent in the affairs of North Texas, a former member of the Texas Legislature, a director in the Missouri, Kansas and Texas Railroad of Texas, died here tonight at 10:15 o'clock after a two weeks illness of heart trouble. His family were all present when the end came. Funeral arrangements will be announced tomorrow. Col. Foster leaves a widow and the following children: Mrs. R. S. Yancey of Dallas, Mrs. W. S. Faries of Denison, Mrs. Kennedy Rodgers of Chicago, R. C. Foster Jr. of Denison. Col. Foster was born in Logan County, Kentucky, in 1834, and was graduated in law from Cumberland University at Lebanon, Tenn. He went to Leavenworth, Kan., in 1856 and practiced law. He was a member of the Kansas Constitutional convention in 1859, and served three terms in the Kansas Legislature in the Lower House and one term in the Senate. In 1876 he moved to Denison as attorney for the Missouri, Kansas and Texas Railway. He entered a law partnership with Judge A. E. Wilkinson, now of Austin, Texas. He was twice a member of the Texas Legislature from 1878-82. Col. Foster organized the Denison Young Men's Christian Association in 1891 and has served as president of that organization since 1896.
