W. W. Decker
Dies After 56 Yrs. Residence William Wallace Decker, 77, retried contractor and resident of Denison for fifty-six years, died Wednesday at 7:50 p.m. at his home, 319 W. Hull street, following a short illness. As a general contractor, Mr. Decker built many Denison homes. Mr. Decker was born in Owensboro, Ky., Sept. 13, 1857, the son of Mr. and Mrs. H. S. Decker, and received his early education there. He came to Denison with his parents in 1878 where his father established a brick manufacturing plant. Two years later Mr. Decker started his own brick plant in the 1300 block Crawford. He married Miss Mary Abbie Rogers in Denison Jan. 29, 1874. Mrs. Decker died in 1928. Surviving are two daughters, Miss Rembert Decker, Denison and Mrs. Carrie Mae Gillespie, Denison; two brothers, Henry Decker of Austin and W. H. Decker of Biddeford, Maine; and two sisters, Mrs. J. A. Hammack and Mrs. B. C. Williams of Houston. Mr. Decker was a cousin of the late N. H. L. Decker. Funeral services will be held Friday at 4 p.m. at the family home, Rev. J. S. Hodges officiating.
