Friday, June 18, 1943 pg. 6 Funeral services were conducted this week for Adolph Paul Elkert, 55, 911 W. Main street, who died at his home Tuesday morning. Interment was made at Fairview. Death came to Mr. Elkert suddenly following a heart attack at 9 a.m. Tuesday. Born in Philadelphia, September 29, 1887, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Elkert. He followed the trade of boiler maker here, entering the service of the railroad as a young man. With the family he came to Temple and after one year there, moved to Denison in 1897, receiving his education in the schools of Denison. He served as a member of foreign expedition in the first World War, seeing 9 months service in France. After the war he went to the Panama Canal zone and was employed at installing locks there. Returning to Denison for a while he soon left for the naval ship yards in Crockett, California after which he returned to Denison to live with his mother. He had been back home about 9 months. Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Selma Elkert, and four sisters, Mrs. C.A. Bowen, Shawnee, Oklahoma; Mrs. Carl W. Alexander, Sherman; Mrs. W. Hardy, Kansas City; and Mrs. C.E. Scruggs, San Antonio.
