Friday, January 19, 1951 pg 4 Funeral services were held Saturday morning at Bratcher-Moore funeral home for Gid Talley James, 76, retired cattleman, who died at Madonna hospital Thursday night after several years of illness. Dr. H. C. Henderson, pastor of Waples Methodist church, officiated and burial was in Fairview cemetery, with Bratcher-Moore, directors, in charge. Mr. James was born in Grayson county, August 6, 1874, the son of Dr. and Mrs. Enoch P. James. He was educated in Fannin county and was married in 1898 to Miss Ruth Lawrence. They resided in Durant before coming to Denison 31 years ago. Mr. James opened the first cold storage plant in Denison. He was a member of the Methodist church. Survivors include his widow, two daughters, Mrs. Herman Krattiger, and Mrs. Ralph Ellsworth of Denison; three brothers, Vernon and Ollie James of Durant; and Riley James of Shreveport, La.; two grandchildren, John Lynch of Wichita Fallas and Mrs. Leslie Ratliff of Tyler and two great grandchildren.
