Funeral
services were held at Johnson-Moore chapel Thursday, October 16, at 2
p.m. for Charles H. Stone, 90, who died Tuesday, October 14. at the
home of his daughter, Mrs. Carol Kalb, 1218 S. Austin.
The Rev. James I. Logan conducted the service and interment was in Fairview cemetery, with a Masonic service. Mr. Stone had lived in Denison about 16 years. He was born in Stroudsburg, Pa., Jan. 12, 1868, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Will Stone. He was educated in Pittston, Pa., and was married there September 15, 1898 to Lula Blanch Pool. He left Pittston and went to Scranton, Pa. and worked for newspapers and served his apprenticeship as a compositor, then went to Washington, D. C., in 1905 as compositor for the Evening Star where he worked until he retired in 1943. When he came to Denison he was a member of Columbia Telegraphical Union No. 101, Washington, Grand Lodge F.A.A.M., of District of Columbia, Naval Lodge No. 4, Grand Commandery Knights Templar of District of Columbia, was High Priest member of Grand Council Royal and Select Masters of the District of Columbia. He was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star No. 77, Gate City Chapter, Denison. Aside from Mrs. Kalb, he is survived by two other daughters, Mrs. Gilburt Zensen, West Covins, Calif., and Mrs. Randolph Young, Irvington, N.J., eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
