Friday, May 21, 1943 pg.6 Funeral services and burial were held here Sunday afternoon for John S. Gary, 46, formerly a Denison man, who died at Ennis Friday morning. Rev. Roy C. Kerr officiated and Short-Murray directed the services with interment at Fairview. Born December 16, 1896, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. John T. Gary, Galveston. He moved to Denver and later came to Denison in 1910, where he was reared and educated in the schools here and at Draughon's college. He entered the Katy employ as a clerk in the car department. He enlisted in the U.S. Army with the 11th engineer corps, and was 18 months in France. On receiving his discharge he re-entered the railroad service at Muskogee with the KO&G. He moved to Mobile, Alabama in 1923 and has continued to reside there until his death as assistant car foreman and traveling car inspector.
