DENISON -
Funeral for Richard C. 'Dick' Wilson, 72, of Denison, who died Monday
in a local nursing home, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Waples
Memorial United Methodist Church, with Rev. Bob Robertson officiating.
Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Johnson-Moore Funeral Home is in
charge of arrangements.
Wilson was born Dec. 6, 1916 in Denison, son of Richard Charles Wilson
and Willie Jewell Coffman Wilson. He attended Denison High School in
1936. He was the great grandson of J. K. Miller, the founder of
Denison. Wilson married MarElla Ward March 2, 1962, in Denison.
He was an insurance agent for Johnson-Moore Funeral Home and was a
field representative for Woodmen of the World Life Insurance Society
for 25 years. Wilson was the top field representative for Woodmen of
the World in 1987. He
was a member of Billie Mosse Masonic Lodge #1152 AF and AM, Dallas
Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Dallas, Denison Commandery #24, Knights
of Templar, Denison Chapter #138 Royal Arch Masons, Denison Council #83
Royal and Select Masters, and Hella Temple Shrine of Garland. Wilson
was past president of North Texas Shrine Club and second vice president
of Grayson County Scottish Rite Club. He was a life time member of
Camel Herders Stable of Dallas, and was Superior Most Excellent High
Priest of Dallas.
Wilson was also a member of the American Association of Retired
Persons, Elks Lodge and Waples Memorial United Methodist Church, where
he was past president of the Methodist Men Criterion Class. He was a
past member of the Lions Club and Denison Rod and Gun Club.
Surviving are his wife of Denison; son, Jimmy of Denison; mother of Colbert; and one granddaughter.
