Denison, Memorial services for John Henry Fairbanks, who died Feb. 6, 1994, at his Midland residence, will be announced at a later date. Ellis Funeral Home of Midland and Bratcher Funeral Home of Denison are in charge of arrangements. Fairbanks was born Sept. 23, 1906, in Denison and lived in the same house here from the time he was 4 years old until moving to Midland in 1992 to be with family. A graduate of the Finday School of Engineering in Kansas City, Mo., Fairbanks was retired from the Missouri-Kansas Railroad with 33 years of service. Fairbanks was the son of Kirk Brooks and Margaret Thompson Fairbanks. In the late 1800s, the Thompson family owned and operated "Thompson House", the early day hotel of Denison located in the 100 block of Main Street. He was the grandson of John Joseph Fairbanks and Edith Kirk. His grandfather came to Denison in its early days as pay master for the M-K-T Railroad. He became a pioneer land developer in Grayson County. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois L. Miller Fairbanks. His religious preferences included the Presbyterian Church and Christian Science Church. Fairbanks was living near his sister-in-law, Sue Houghton, in Midland.
