November 29, 2013 Marianne Christman Hughes died Tuesday, November 26 at her home in Denison following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Hughes was born on March 20, 1935. She was the daughter of the late Leoni S. Christman and Milton L. Christman. Her beloved husband Willis Hughes and beloved brother, Jon Milton Christman preceded her in death. Marianne Hughes grew up in the Christman family home at 931 W. Woodard Street, studied at Denison High School and graduated from St. Xavier Academy in 1953. Mrs. Hughes lived on Swiss Avenue in Dallas with her husband and mother for over 25 years until 1986 when she returned to Denison. While in Dallas, she worked as an Assistant to the Personal Director of Wilson Sporting Goods. She was also involved with the organization of the Swiss Avenue Historical Association, the Mother's Day Home Tours and the Association's first cookbook. She possessed enormous creative talents and was an accomplished painter. Marianne Hughes was much loved and will be missed by those who were fortunate to have known her. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 30 at Fisher Funeral Home with interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery in Denison. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service on Saturday. Arrangements are under the direction of Fisher Funeral Home, 604 W. Main St., Denison, TX 75020.
