Friday, May 4, 1951 pg. 3 Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at Bratcher-Moore chapel for John Douglas Harrelson, 44, Denison, service station owner at 514 W. Woodard, who died in a local hospital Thursday, April 26, after a month's illness. The Rev. W.B. Billingsley, pastor of First Baptist and Dr. H.C. Henderson, pastor of Waples Methodist, conducted the services and interment was in Fairview cemetery with Bratcher-Moore in charge. Mr. Harrelson was born in Phoenix City, Alabama, July 22, 1906, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Henry Harrelson. He came to Denison as a boy and received his education in Denison schools. He was married in Sherman in 1927 to Miss Gertrude Jones. They resided for a time in New Mexico. He was a member of Waples Methodist Church, Knights of Pythias lodge, the Chamber of Commerce and the Retail Merchants Association. He is survived by his widow; one son, Jack Harrelson, and one daughter, Jean Harrelson, of Denison; two sisters, Mrs. Jack Sullivan, Tulsa, and Mrs. L.T. Thomas, Muskogee, and one grandchild.
