Friday, April 13, 1956 pg. 3 Funeral services for Dr. Daniel Dwight Crawford, 80, Denison osteopath were held Tuesday morning at 10:30 in Bratcher-Moore funeral chapel. The Rev. Ed Bayless of Dallas conducted the service and interment was in Fairview cemetery. Dr. Crawford died at his home, 930 W. Bond, Sunday morning at 10:15 after a long illness. A native of Kirksville, Missouri, he had lived in Denison 55 years. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel H. Crawford and received his early education in Kirksville schools, and earned his D.O. degree from the School of Osteophy of Kirksville in June 1900. He was married in La Planta, February 3, 1897 to Mary Agnes Parcel. Dr. Crawford was the oldest practicing doctor in Denison and had practiced in Jackson, Mississippi and Coldwater, Michigan before coming to Denison in 1901. Dr. Crawford was active in local and state osteopathic organizations and civic affairs. He served on the local staff of the Katy Railroad medical department under appointment by Dr. Webb, of Dallas, Texas, then chief surgeon, from 1915 to 1923. He was a member of the osteopathic committee that helped in forming the present State Board of Medical Examiners in 1907. Dr. Crawford was a member of the American Osteopathic association most of his life. He was a charter member of the Rotary Club and Rod and Gun Club, and was a member of the Chamber of Commerce and Elks during his active years. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his wife and a son, Dr. Claud Crawford, Denison.
