DENISON - Funeral for L. Mack Newsom Jr., 50, Fort Worth resident who died Tuesday in Denison after a sudden illness, will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Bratcher Chapel, with the Rev. Dale Gore officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Newsom was born Dec. 25, 1934, in Denison, son of Mr. and Mrs. L. Mack Newsom. A 1951 graduate of Denison High School, Newsom continued his education, graduating from the University of Texas. He was a Baptist, area extension chairman of the Fort Worth Optimist Club and a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was employed with Newsom Investments. Surviving are his mother, Bertha of Denison; three sons, Bill of Austin, Michael and Kevin of Fort Worth; daughter, Nancy Newsom of Fort Worth; sister, Mrs. Carl T. Lord of Dallas; and two grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Larry Gandy, C. K. Pool, Richard Riggins, Bill Ashburn, S. J. Brown, and Robert Pool. The family will be at home, 1231 W. Gandy.
