Lewis S. Ratcliff, 74, of Denison passed away on March 8, 2013, of natural causes. Visitation will be held at 10 a.m., March the 12, followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m. Funeral arrangements are being held by American Funeral Home at 4312 W. Crawford St. Denison. David Hudgens of Southside Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will follow the funeral at Fairview Cemetery.
Lewis was born on June 18, 1938 in Savoy. He attended Denison schools and received his BS from Southeastern Oklahoma State University. Lewis retired from the U.S. Air Force after 20 years of dedicated service which included deployment during the Vietnam war. He enjoyed visiting with family and especially his great-grandchildren.
Lewis is survived by his grandchildren, Michael Jr. of Dallas and Chris of Whitewright; brother, Ellis of Denison; sister, Mary Fenner of Euphrata, Wash., and Ellen Melson of Plano; children, David of Plano, Michael of Ft. Worth, Steve of Wake Forest, N.C., and Robert of Asheville, N.C., and other family and friends.
Lewis is preceded in death by his loving wife, Carolyn; parents, Nellie and Alvin Ratcliff; brothers, Jesse and Sidney; and sister Inez Rameriz.
Pallbearers will be Ellis, Michael, David, Michael Jr. Chris Ratcliff and Steve Dobson.
