   Conrad Kreig 1830 - 1898 DIED
At the residence of his son, Wm. A. Kreig, 831 Morton street, Conrad Kreig, aged 68 years. The summons was a sudden one and came in the form of paralysis of the heart while talking to his daughter, Mrs. John Kachel. No warning was given, the stroke came, and death was instantaneous. Mr. Kreig was a veteran of two wars, the Baden revolution of 1849 and the civil war, 1861 to '65, was of German nativity but had been a citizen of the United States for nearly 40 years, going first to Illinois on arriving in this country, serving as a private in the 38th Illinois volunteers in 1864-5. Soon after the close of the war he came with his family to Texas. Besides the son and daughter mentioned, Mr. Kreig leaves a wife to mourn his loss. Interment was in Fairview cemetery at 10 o'clock Thursday morning.
