Friday, December 16, 1949 pg. 3 DEATHS Elmer Ellsworth Watkins Elmer Ellsworth Watkins, 78, retired Katy conductor, who had resided in Denison for 58 years, died at his home, 201 W. Hull, Monday morning, after a short illness. He had worked for the Katy for 43 years. He was born in New London, Iowa, Feb. 2, 1871, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Watkins. He received his education in the New London schools, and was married in Sherman in 1923 to Miss Mattie Harvey. He was a member of the Presbyterian church, and Masonic Lodge No. 1152. Survivors are his widow; a son, Lt. E.E. Watkins, stationed in San Juan, Porto Rico; a daughter, Mrs. George Gumpert of New Orleans; four grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Bratcher-Moore was in charge of arrangements for the funeral which was delayed until Thursday awaiting the arrival of his son from Porto Rico. The Rev. Edward Bayless conducted The services in the Bratcher-Moore chapel, and interment was in Fairview cemetery.
