Friday, July 13, 1956 pg. 5 Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Bratcher-Moore chapel for Percy Burk Moreland, 49, of 19 Marion street, who died suddenly in Tishomingo, Oklahoma while on a fishing trip. Rev. A.P. Skaggs officiated and interment was in Fairview cemetery. Mr. Moreland was born in Cleburne January 7, 1907 and came to Denison when he was 8 years of age. His parents were Mr. and Mrs. C.E. Moreland. He received his education in Denison schools and was married here February 6, 1947 to Bessie McCarty. He worked for the Southern Ice Company for 30 years, and had also worked for the Katy railroad. He was a Baptist, a member of the American Legion, and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He had served in the Seabees in World War II in the Pacific. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Bessie Moreland; his mother, Mrs. Edna Garza, Denison; father, C.E. Moreland, San Antonio; a daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Taylor, Grapevine, Texas; and a son, Leon Moreland, Denison; a brother, E.T. Moreland, Denison; and 2 grandchildren.
