F.A. Williamson

F.A. Williamson is listed in the 1880 Sherman, Grayson County, Texas census.  The family resides on North Walnut Street.
F.A. Williamson was born about 1844 in New York; his parents immigrated from Sweden.  His occupation was that of a dry goods sales clerk for Schneider Bros. in Sherman.  

Three years after the Sherman census, it was noted in the Denison paper that Mr. WIlliamson had returned from New York and accepted a position with "Snyder" Bros. in Sherman.  At the same time Mr. F.A. Williamson, in connection with Mr. Sala, had the contract for painting the scenery in the McDougall Opera House in Denison.  (The Sunday Gazetteer, Sunday, August 19, 1883).  Although Mr. Williamson resided in Sherman, he frequented events held at Denison.  Shortly before his death, he made the trip to Denison to attend the opening of the White Elephant Saloon on August 2, 1884. Mr. Williamson's wife was Josephina, born about 1847 in Denmark; they had one son, Joseph, born about 1869 in New York, who was attending school.

F.W. Williamson, salesman for Schneider Bros. dry goods house, Sherman, died in that city last Tuesday, of typhoid fever.  Mr. Williamson was salesman in the Star Store, t his city, 3  years ago, and in connection with Mr. Sola, painted most of the scenery in the opera house.  Mr. Williamson was an excellent salesman, and an artist much above the average.  He had many friends in Denison whil will read of his sudden death with deep regret.   He leaves a  wife and one son, about 16 years of age, who have the warmest sympathy of the Gazetteer in their distress.  Mr. Williamson was the most genial gentleman, and a kind husband and father.
