Wilfred A.
Hallenbeck was born September 1855 in Hudson, Columbia Co., New York,
the son of George W. Hallenbeck (1818 - 1886) and Ann Maria Ten Eyck
(1815 - 1859). He married Mary Eugenia Carlat in Denison, Grayson
Co., Texas 1 January 1880. This family were descendants of Caspar Jacobese Hallenbeck, born 1620, Hallenbeck,
Schweiswig, Germany and died August 1703, Albany, New York.
Wilfred Hallenbeck married Mary Eugenia Carlat (March 1859, Independence,
Missouri - 15 June 1942, San Antonio, Texas), whose parents were from France. The
Hallenbecks were in the catering business in Denison, Texas. The City
Directory for Denison 1901-1902 listed Wilfred A. Hallenbeck and Ralph
St. John as partners in a bakery, ice cream parlor, cafe, and

Inez, Eva, and Mae (1881-1963) were the three Hallenbeck sisters. Eva or Evelyn, as
she was sometimes referred to, had a lovely contralto voice, and she was

By 1910 Wilfred and his family had moved to St. Louis, Missouri. Charles F. Hallenbeck, the adopted son, was vice-president of the Southwest Supply Company in St. Louis, Missouri. Mr. Hallenbeck died in St. Louis in 1915 and was buried Fairview Cemetery, Denison, Texas along with his wife and son, Charles Wilfred Hallenbeck.
