Denison, Texas Friday, April 19, 1878 pg 4 DEAD ON THE STREET Supposed to Have Died From Disease Early Thursday morning information reached us that the body of a negro man had been found on Bond Street. On repairiing to the place we found that the report was correct, but soon convinced ourselves that the man had come to his death by natural causes, and not by violence as was first reported. We ascertained that the name of the deceased was Archibald Taylor, aged about 45 years, and that he had been employed formerly at the Grand Southern saloon. He had been sick for some time, but had received no medical attention, being apparently too avaricious to employ a doctor, though owning two lots in Cook's addition and considerable other property. He has been living in a shed on Austin avenue, and it appears that during the night he had occasion to get up, and fell dead on the street. Judge Kirk, exofficio coroner was promptly notified and he repaired to the place at once with a jury summoned for that purpose. The jury returned a verdict that the deceased came to his death by exhaustion from natural causes, and from want of proper attention. The sum of eight dollars and fifty cents were found on his person. Deceased is unmarried.
