Annie Scoggin 1878 - 1978 George J. Scoggin 1872 - 1952 George J. Scoggin, 80, Ethel Farmer Dies Ethel - George J. Scoggins, 80, farmer, died Saturday at 7 a.m. at his home here. He came to Texas in 1891 from Georgia, and settled in the Ethel community. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 4 p.m. at Ethel Church of Christ. G.W. Weatherfordof Collinsville will conduct the service. Pallbearers will be J.V. McWhorter, Frank Walkup, Ivan Vannoy, R.M. Matlock, Charles Light and Raymond Bell. Burial will be in Ethel Cemetery, directed by the Richards-Beck Funeral Home of Whitesboro. Mr. Scoggins was born Feb. 6, 1872 a son of Mr. and Mrs. John Scoggins. He was married to Miss Annie Flemming, Sept. 29, 1907 at Ethel. He was a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Joe Scoggins and Lee Scoggins, both of Collinsville; five grandchildren; three brothers, Doyle Scoggins of Collinsville, R.E. Scoggins of Sweetwater, and A.L. Scoggins of Lubbock; three sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Davis of Littlefield, Mrs. Jim Gentry of Waggoner, Okla., and Mrs. Vella Cannady of Sherman. Collinsville - Services for Mrs. Mary Annie Scoggin, 99, who died Wednesday at a nursing home here, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Huff Funeral Chapel in Whitesboro, conducted by Luther Savage, Church of Christ minister. Burial will be at Ethel Cemetery. Born in Knoxville, Tenn., Mrs. Scoggin was a daughter of the lat Mr. and Mrs. J.P. Fleming and married George Scoggin in September, 1907, in the Ethel community. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Surviving are sons, Lee and Joe Scoggin, both of Collinsville. Pallbearers are Frank Walkup, L.M. Harmon, Alvin Vannoy, Johnnie Vannoy, George Slight, Manuel Carney and Gene McLaughlin. The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday.
