for Rev. Alba H. Bates, 89, who died Sunday at 4:30 a.m. in a Sherman
Hospital. Mr. Bates was born March 28, 1880 in Tennessee, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John R. Bates. He married Beulah Matlock, Nov. 17, 1907 in Hastings, Oklahoma. He was a retired pastor of the Ethel Cumberland Presbyterian church. He has pastored churches in Muskogee, San Antonio, Denton, Fort Worth, Midlothian. Rev. James Gilbert of Denton officiated with burial in Ethel cemetery under the direction of Richards Funeral Home. Survivors are his wife; one son, A.L. Bates of San Antonio; three daughters, Mrs. Arvil Turner of Silverton, Mrs. Arthur Stevens of Tulsa, and Mrs. R.V. Thomas of Muskogee; 7 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  A.L. "Pete" Bates 4 January 1920 - 22 March 2008 Lillian A.
