SHERMAN - Funeral services for Loreta Nowlin Bowden, 81, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 19, 2009 at Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Whitesboro with Dr. Mike Lawson officiating. Interment will follow in Dixie Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 -7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009 at the funeral home.
Loreta passed away on Sunday, Nov. 15, 2009 at her residence in Sherman.
She was born on Oct. 3, 1928 in Denison to John Bennett Ray and Norman Natta (Stalcup) Ray. Loreta was a graduate of Howe High School. She married Billy Lee Nowlin in 1963 and he preceded her in death in 1978. She married Dewey Hobson Bowden Jr. in 1981 and he preceded her in death in 1995.
Survivors include a sister, Ruby Summers of Melissa; a stepson, Billy Wayne Nowlin of Mansfield; step-grandsons, Mike, Jessie and Billy Nowlin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by five sisters, Nevada Carey, Olene Stalcup, Ethel Bailey Erickson, Frances Telford, and Thelma Fox; and four brothers, J.B. Ray, Ronda Robert Ray, Wade Ray, and Herbert Ray.
Pallbearers will be Mike Nowlin, Jessie Nowlin, Billy Nowlin, Kenneth Bullard and Larry Millson.
