Man Critical After Crash Near Palo

Palo - Delton Goldston, 41, Palo, was in critical condition in the intensive care unit at St. Luke's hospital with head injuries suffered in a two-vehicle collision shortly after 6:30 a.m. Tuesday.

The accident happened at the intersection of Linn county roads E40 and 11 three miles south and one mile west of Palo.
The driver of the other vehicle, Daryle Vaughn Vernon, Iowa City, was transferred from st. Luke's hospital to Mercy hospital, Iowa City, suffering from multiple lacerations and abrasions.  His condition was listed as good at .....snip, missing portions

Sherman - Services for Delton Goldston, 63, of Sherman who died April 3, 1998, in Community Hospital Sherman, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday April 6, 1998,  in Waldo Funeral Home Chapel.
The Rev. Steve Warren of Forrest Avenue Baptist Church will officiate.  Burial will be in Dixie cemetery in Whitesboro, Texas.
Mr. Goldston was born Dec. 6, 1934, in Whitesboro, the son of Herman and Lois Stubblefield Goldston.  He served in the Army from 1957 - 1958.
He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 2772 in Sherman and was retired from Quaker Oaks.
Surviving are his son, Dale Goldston of Sherman; daughter-in-law, Donna Goldston of Sherman; granddaughter, Jennifer Goldston of Sherman; sister, Lorene  Shelton of San Antonio; and brothers, Johnny Goldston and Loy Goldston, both of Sadler.
Pallbearers will be members of the VFW Post 2772.
The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday

Mrs. Lois Edna Goldston, 87, of van Alstyne, formerly of Sherman, died Wednesday at North Texas Medical Center in McKinney.  services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in Waldo Funeral Home Chapel.   The Rev. Jeff Reid, pastor of Forest Avenue Baptist Church, will officiate.  Burial will be in Dixie Cemetery.
Mrs. Goldston was born in the Sandusky community, a daughter of Tom Stubblefield and Alice Bartlett Stubblefield.  On Jan. 24, 1923, she married  William Herman Goldston in the Dixie community. Formerly of Whitesboro, she moved to Sherman in 1934 and was a member of Forest Avenue  Baptist church.  She had been a Van Alstyne resident six year.
Surviving are her sons, Delton Goldston of Sherman, Johnny Goldston and Loy Goldston, both of Sadler, and Leon Goldston of Pottsboro; daughters,  Edna Tuley of Sherman, Mildred Ferguson of Van Alstyne and Lorene Shelton of San Antonio; brother, Aubrey Stubblefield of Whitesboro; sisters,  Ada Davis of Colbert, Okla., Cora Hullum of Gainesville and Elfa Phelps of Whitesboro; 24 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and two great-great-granchildren.
The family will be at the funeral home from 8 to 9 p.m. today, and other times at the Edna Tuley residence, Highway 56 West.
