Homicide
Last Tuesday, about 2 p.m. Sam Williams and Mack Robinson, both colored, had an altercation, growing out of the separation of Robinson and his wife. Williams had invited the woman to come to his house and live, and Robinson objected. Hot words passed, and finally Robinson drew a pistol and commenced firing at Williams, two bullets taking effect in Williams' body, on in the shoulder, and the other in the left breast. Robinson escaped, and Williams was taken to his residence, where he died from internal hermorrhage Thursday morning about 10 o'clock. Lena Williams, a sister of deceased, who heard the shooting and immediately repaired to the scene of the difficulty, testified at the coronor's inquest, that deceased told her Robinson commenced abusing him; that he told him he did not want a fuss, and that then Robinson commenced firing on him. She further testified that Williams had no arms on his person of any kind, and furthermore that Robinson had threatened Williams' life on a previous occasion, during a conversation concerning his (Robinson's) wife. The verdict was that Williams came to his death in accordance with the facts above stated. Robinson is still at large. Williams was 31 years of age.

Sam Williams, a colored man residing in Loving's addition, was shot Tuesday afternoon, by another colored man, Mack Robinson, and died from the effects of said shot Thursday morning.  The difficulty originated from Williams giving shelter to Robinson's wife, who had left her husband on account of brutal treatment.  Williams was entirely unarmed.  Robinson, who is a very bad nigger, having figured conspicuously on various occasions before the courts, escaped into the Indian Territory.

NOT GUILTY  IS THE VERDICT IN THE ROBINSON CASE
Baker Jury Hangs Again - Other Court Notes
The jury of the Mack Robinson case, where the defendant was charged with the murder of Sam Williams at Denison, four years ago, were charged by the Criminal Court last evening, and after a short stay returned a verdict of not guilty, and the defendant was given his liberty.
This is a case where the state alleged that the defendant killed the deceased because his (defendants) wife, after having been compelled to leave home on account of his cruelty, sought for and procured shelter and protection at the home of the deceased, against the wishes of the defendant, who became enraged and deliberately committed murder.

The defense set up the plea that the deceased was the aggressor, and that the defendant, in order to protect the honor of himself and family, remonstrated with his wife for an intimacy with the deceased and that the deceased had made an attack on him with a pocket knife, and that in order to protect his own life he killed him. The evidence of both the prosecution and defense was very pointed, but the jury found as is given above .
